No21 Painting - Vicars Close Wells

Such a pleasure walking to work to paint a property at Vicars Close,
owned by the Cathedral - one of the oldest,
occupied Streets in Europe

Painting Georgian sash windows, a stunning view
- if you can see past the tourists!

Lots of painting required on this totally panelled room

Warning WET PAINT! Do not enter
You would be amazed how many tourists
drift in to get a sneaky look at the property

Using Distemper for breathable walls

These properties are larger than you think - The Georgians changed this property, one of twenty-seven, originally built in 1430 (there is an original preserved painting on the wall in one of the bedrooms)

Bedroom in Pale Grey & White

Blackened by Farrow & Ball  - listed as a cool white with a hint of grey, the colour performs at its best with white woodwork - our customer selected this combination for her bedroom in Wells Somerset.
Use gloss white woodwork for more contrast against Estate Emulsion

From Magnolia to pale grey - the trend towards the grey family
still feels fresh against white paintwork

External Doors Painted - French Style Courtyard

Two external doors finished this week. Our customer chose a colour called - Plush Velvet 1 - High Gloss Dulux paint to blend with her French style courtyard garden of lavender and blue based flowers.
The doors will take approx two weeks to dry thoroughly
(they will appear dry to touch in a day but scuffing and knocking should be avoided)
We will return in a few weeks to tidy the glass from any remaining old paint.

It was perfect weather to paint the oil based undercoat
and two coats of high gloss with drying time in between each coat.

The external door (above) was next to the road, it had been bleached by the sun, the wood split, and the paint peeling. This painting process required thorough preparation, intensive filling and rubbing down to a smooth finish.
